IRRIGATION WINTERIZATION

1) Turn off in Clockwise Motion, the Main Water Feed that is Going up the Wall and to the outside of your Home. This is found in the Basement utility room.

2) On the outside of your home, turn off the ball cock (position opposite of pipe) or the gate valve (clockwise motion).

3) Open the Drain just after the Main Valve Feed to Irrig. (Usually a Hose Gate Valve that looks just like the valves on the outside of your home.) This will allow the water going up the wall to the outside of your home to drain back & out, usually 1/2 a gallon of water. If there is not a floor drain close to this valve, and you cannot put a pan or bucket under valve, attach a garden hose and direct water to drain. After initial opening of valve, water will not be under pressure and will gravity geed, do not have a 50 or 100' hose coiled up for water to run through.

4) If we come out to blow out the system and you are not home, we will need to know the location of valves in your yard. Usually they are directly under where the water supply comes out of your home, if not, give us a general idea where to find them. On rare occasions, the valves are not in a box but were buried in the soil, if this is the case, we will have to set up an appointment so we can access your clock and or controller.
